My First Few Weeks at Newtrality by Amber Adams
Meet Amber Adams
What attracted you to join Newtrality?
I had been following Newtrality on LinkedIn for a while and when I saw the job advert something immediately clicked. It might sound serendipitous but I knew (and that feeling only grew in strength throughout the recruitment process!) that this was the right fit and what I was looking for. What really drew me in was Newtrality’s values-led approach, collaborative culture and the focus on delivering human-centred, meaningful change. Those principles all closely align with my own values and ways of working.
What have you been working on so far?
I have been working on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) with one of our clients to mobilise and begin delivery of the pre-transition phase. This has included designing the critical path ahead of the ‘minded-to’ decision. Alongside my client work, I have also begun shaping initial thinking around strengthening our internal practices.
What’s surprised you about your first few weeks?
Having spent my career in local government, stepping into this role has been a refreshing and welcome adjustment as I can drive and deliver change in a much more tangible way. With less red tape and barriers that come with being an officer, I feel like we are a genuine enabler to our clients and the sector to deliver the significant transformation agendas ahead of them.
How would you describe the team and culture?
The team are some of the most supportive, friendly and welcoming people I have worked with which is reflected in the culture. Our values are aligned and we share a clear sense of purpose. Being part of this team has been a positive and cohesive experience that has strengthened my sense of belonging.
What are you looking forward to next?
I’m excited to work with the team to continue to build our internal practices and brand – it is a great opportunity that can make real impact. I also feel hopeful and energised about our work with our clients to deliver large scale transformation and meaningful change.
